Prince Guidon, the son of Tsar Sultan, owned a city with a palace on the Island of Buyan. One of the many miracles in the palace was a squirrel who sat under a fir tree and sang songs. She shelled and ate nuts. The shells were of pure gold and the nuts were pure emerald. The lid of this box is beautifully inlaid with mother of pearl. Artist is E. Dokuchayev.
